1. Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook signed a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million with the New York Jets.

5. Running back Alex Collins, who played five years in the NFL, most recently with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021, was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday night at the age of 28.

9. On this day in 1920 Cleveland Indians shortstop Ray Chapman is beaned in the head by New York Yankees pitcher Carl Mays. Chapman died the next day in the only MLB game related fatality.
