A new kind of McCarthyism in M-Town

A new kind of McCarthyism in M-Town

Good Morning!

T-Minus-5 until “Mid Valley Classic”

Game Seventeen: September 13, 1996 at Temple City

The Rams win Mike DiFiori’s debut 17-6 largely on the legs of running back Carlos Morrell. The senior ran for 144-yards on 16-carries, including a 44-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

TC took the lead on Tim Luna’s 46-yard punt return in the first quarter. Arroyo’s Shaun Cozart scored on a six-yard run to start the second half, but the Knights missed the point after and still trailed 7-6 before Morrell went to the house on the next series.

James Schneider added a 32-yard field goal, Joey Novelli rushed for 70-yards on 17 attempts, and CIF’s number one ranked Arroyo fell.

Note to Anthony White: Jim Walker, Gabe Soumakian, Mike Mooney, and Randy Backus all lost their TC openers to Arroyo.

Somebody tell me why I shouldn’t be excited about Monrovia sophomore Ellis McCarthy, who stands in at 6’4” 246-pounds, and recorded three tackles and a sack against Arcadia on Thursday night?

Breaking News: No local offensive coordinators have been fired this weekend.

Okay, Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford goes down with a sprained shoulder…Mark Sanchez is a millionaire playing quarterback for the New York Jets…Nice call Mark…

Richard Seymour’s best football is behind him, so the Patriots trading him to the Raiders makes sense. Seeing as how he can still play and it only cost Oakland a first round pick in 2011…and since that pick, judging how Al Davis does things, was going to be John Scanlan I think its a good deal for the Silver and Black.

Note to Ray Hernandez: It Don’t Mean Nothing… South El Monte has lost four consecutive season openers, including a loss to San Dimas last season at home where it surrendered 56-points…Both Bill Thompson and Erick Escamilla lost their debuts for South…It Don’t Mean Nothing, Not A Thing

Nice debut for new Burbank HC Hector Valencia as the Bulldogs worked Simi Valley 32-6 Friday night. Ulisis Ochoa (16-154- 3Tds) and Leo Rodas (12-116) combined for 270-yards on the ground. However, can somebody check the stats on junior linebacker Ryan Seidler’s 22-tackles. We know Seidler can ball, but 22 sounds like a stat girl on the sideline in love.

I once had seven tackles for Temple City against San Gabriel back in the day…(Okay, old joke…but you know what I mean.)

Last Add Burbank: The final score was 32-6 over Simi Valley, not 21-6 as some have erroneously reported.

Does anyone know where Randy Backus is coaching these days?

Last Note Mid Valley Classic: Don Swanson beat Arroyo in the 1986 season opener, but he was already in his fifth season leading the TC program after Bob Hitchcock’s retirement.

Stay thirsty my friends…
