San Marino Pummels the 90210

By Corey Kwok

(San Marino) – San Marino again established themselves in the trenches and dominated Beverly Hills in a 45-0 shutout Friday night to stay undefeated at 4-0.

The Titans held the Normans to a net rushing yardage at minus-13.
It was another day an the office for the usual Titan offense producers as all-everything Matt Wofford accounted for three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing) and a field goal, while running-back Ryan Wood also ran for two touchdowns while munching up 177 yards over 21 carries.

Four of those six sacks came in the opening stanza, where San Marino defensive end Justin Hill flew for three of them (two solo). One of those dealt an early exit to Beverly Hills starting quarterback Chase Crossley who left via ankle injury on the Normans’ second series of the game. In the second half, it was defensive lineman Alex Knott’s turn as he teamed up with Larson Cobb to drop replacement 90210 signal caller Zack Bialobos twice.

Leading 14-0 after one on a pair of Wofford touchdown runs and a second quarter that featured an Andrew Cordova 76-yard wide-open catch and dash to cash, plus a Ryan Wood 19-yard touchdown run, San Marino stretched it to 31-0 at the break. Adam Padilla knocked the football loose from BH runner Montay Monroe, and it was recovered by Knott to set up Wood’s dash into the endzone.

Then on the third play of the Normans’ ensuing drive, Titan linebacker Ryan Blasher stood in Bialobos’ path down field and up the middle for an interception. San Marino’s subsequent possession culminated in a 27-yard field goal from Wofford with 1:34 remaining in the first half.

Wood broke loose and breezed freely up the turf 74-yards to paydirt on the Titans’ first play from scrimmage to open the second half before Padilla closed the scoring books in the fourth and final frame on a five-yard push into the endzone.
