(Rosemead) – Robbie Franco and Angel Lopez combined for 243 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to lead Rosemead to a 33-14 win over Gabrielino Friday night.  The Panthers broke the game open with two quick touchdowns to open the second half.

Leading 14-7 early in the third quarter Franco got loose for a 45-yard touchdown run on the Panthers first series. On the next series, Jordan Parham picked off Gabrielino quarterback Eli Peters and weaved his way 23 yards for a score. Just like that it was 27-7 Mead and it was all over except the shouting.

The Eagles did get on the board one more time late in the third on a Peters TD strike to Gabriel Carranza but Lopez then iced it with an 18-yard jaunt. Lopez score was set up when Gabrielino botched a punt attempt in their own end.

***Franco rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown. 135 of those yards came in the second half.

***Gabrielino turned the ball over four times with Peters throwing three interceptions. Rosemead quarterback Steven Nava was picked off twice.

***Calvin Chen hauled in 11 passes for 131 yards and a score for Gabrielino.

***Nava threw for 202 yards for the Panthers with Luis Luna his favorite target with four catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.

***Luna’s 59-yard catch and run gave the Panthers a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

***”We came into the game wanting to run the ball and we were able to do that.  Robbie (Franco) and Angel (Lopez) make a pretty good one-two punch,” said Rosemead HC Marc Paramo.

***Peters passed for 185 yards and rushed for 73 for the Eagles.

***Rosemead is 3-0 in the MVL and 3-4 overall. Gabrielino is 2-2 and 3-4.
