(Montebello) – Bertram Mak scored 22 points and Anthony Vuong added 13 off the bench to lead visiting Keppel to a 59-47 win over Schurr Friday night.

With the victory the Aztecs improved to 4-0 in the Almont and moved a game ahead of Schurr who is 3-1. The Aztecs led by just two after one but came out of the gate in the second quarter and went on an 8-0 run for a ten point advantage. Keppel outscored the Spartans 14-2 in the second and went into the half up 27-13.

It was quickly 31-13 as the Aztecs scored the first four points in the third quarter and Schurr couldn’t dig out of the hole. The Aztecs still led by 12 after three and maintained that lead through the fourth.

The Spartans did mange to cut the lead to seven early in the final period on five quick points from Ryan Veljacic but that was as close as they would get.
