Darreon Lockett will move to the slot for 2015. Good move for the Red Devils?

With the season only a few short days away, the top of the Mid Valley Divsion has many familiar names, with reason. Pomona is the defending champion but until the experiment moving Darreon Lockett to the slot proves succesful, the Red Devils will need to work their way back to the top. It looks like spots four through 10 will be fluid as a lot of these teams have had to reload.

1. Sierra Canyon – Niko Harris is healthy and back at quarterback. The Trailblazers also return Josh Cole who rushed for 1126 yards and 10 td’s.
2. Paraclete – With a playmaker like Melquis Stovall the Spirits will be in the mix again for a Mid Valley Division title. Marcus Goforth and Taylor Tuiasosopo anchor and experience offensive line.
3. Pomona – Darreon Lockett returns for the defending champs but not at quarterback. Aaron Sandoval will line up behind center and look to get Lockett the ball in space.
4. Northview – Sophomore Steven Comstock returns as the signal caller for the Vikings along with Andres Hooper and Elijah Grijalva in the back field. Biggest question for 2015…the o-line.
5. Covina – Eric Williams returns as the Colts key go to guy and Covina returns the majority of the starters on the offensive line. Replacing Pearnell Smalley and Joe Benavidez will be priority number one.
6. Viewpoint – Zach Chulak is back for his senior season which gives the Patriots a shot. Chandler Gee gives Viewpoint a needed ground game to take some of the pressure off Chulak.
7. Montebello – The Oilers know what they’ll get from Isaac Mendibles but the bigger key to the offense will be the play of Ryan Rivera.
8. Arroyo – The Knights are replacing three key pieces from 2014 in Miller, Cortero and Amezcua but don’t overlook Arroyo. One of the best staffs in the area will have the Knights ready by game one.
9. Bell Gardens – If the Lancers are to challenge for the Almont and Mid Valley titles, it will be because the bubbas in the trenches got it done.
10. Rosemead – Steven Nava, Angel Lopez, Robbie Franco, Jordan Parham and co. will need big years for the Panthers to stay in the mix.
