Football Fan is a La Mirada guy
It is laughable how much “Football fan” is obsessed with criticizing referees but is there anyone who knows less about officiating than this dude? During the regular season, the officials that work St. Francis games are from San Fernando. In the playoffs, it could be anywhere in SoCal. For the first round, the SGV unit sent out ten crews to various divisions. Obviously, CIF doesn’t agree with your assessment of their performance. For once, I 100% agree with Sgv Insider, and something I have suggested in the past. Go help them out again next season, I am sure they would welcome such a fine official back with open arms. Maybe this time, you may even get a sniff at a lower level JV game.
“I’m not a smart man, Jenny. But I do know what love is.” -circa 1994
(Too dang funny! I couldn’t help myself)
😂
@Chameleon,
I’ll tell you what coward. Why don’t you quit hiding behind your computer. Loser……
@sgvinsider
The word your looking for is “accept” not “except”, in your last sentence to @Footbal Fan.
Pendejo.
@Football Fan,
Without proof it is conjecture. Stop hating and do something about it. Like I said, sign up and become an official. I’m sure you’ll be the change they need. Until then suck it up and except that your team lost.
It is a fact not conjecture. I never said a paper covered it or did a story on it, but there are several people who know of that fateful Saturday morning 8-10 years ago where a picture of lines set and money wagered got out. My 2 cents defends officials at every step although many on here know how inconsistent and poor they are. It’s sad when teams are happy they get officials from a different area for playoffs because the SGV ones are so poor.
@Grim Reaper,
He can’t because there is none. I’m close friends with many of the officials in the SGV and there’s never been any such story or event like what Football fan is describing. Let’s keep in mind that many of these officials work normal jobs and lead normal lives. They chose to officiate football because of their love of the game and the kids who play it. So Football fan, if you feel so strongly about your point, lose 100 lbs and sign up to become an official. If what you feel is true then I’m sure they could use someone of your morale character to guide them…..
Football fan?
This is the first I heard of some sort of illegal bookmaking on CIF high school football games that were then being rigged by game officials.
If you could provide a couple of facts or search terms I can use to google that scandal, I would be happy to do so and acknowledge your point..
I called Kaiser over SD. #17 is a baller.
@Football fan, you sound like a disgruntled former football official who never got promoted beyond doing freshmen games. Proven? Please share with us just a single link to the story.
Your post is in jest, I get it. You may not be aware the the SGV officials organization was caught setting lines and betting on games several years ago. Most of those officials are still employed in that association. For someone to suggest officials are unscrupulous has already been proven true. I’m sure my 2 cents will have a reason why these officials are still without blame however.
Just an ol has been raises an interesting issue concerning referee tampering, which if true, may lead all the way back to the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin. Apparently Vlad doesn’t love Trump exclusively, but also has a thing for St. Francis coach Jim Bonds. We will hold our collective breaths until Mr. has-been delivers the next lightning-bolt revelation on this case.
The funny thing is I’d slap the sxxt outta you and you wouldn’t do a thing.
Great week of games guys! Very impressed by San Marino.
Glad to see that we represented well in the first round last night.
” It’s almost impossible to win at St. Francis”
What if it is GOD looking out for his own?
🤔
I have been to many Football games at St. Francis and yes the ref’s I don’t care what District they come from are on the Take. It’s almost Impossible to win at St. Francis.
@Shane,
Junior, don’t talk when the grown ups are talking. It’s ok that you dropped out of Bassett. I would too considering the school. Now go back i nside before daddy spanks you.
@Just an ol has been, I know you think you are 100% certain that you have a better angle and view on the plays in the nose bleed than the officials who are actually on the field. You are also that guy who screams at his TV. Just a heads up, THEY CAN’T HEAR YOU!
Although the Wildcats didn’t have a great record this season they showed that in the heat of things they could hold their own. Last night we were clearly outmatched in areas that we need to pay more attention to in the future. Our shortcomings have came mainly in the turnover game otherwise most of these games would be much more competitive. We have plenty to build on next season and we will get their as in the past. We had one of the craziest CIF draws in most of the divisions from Div. 4 on up. Good luck to SM going forward in Div. 6 I believe they could have a chance to make the semi’s. The Cat’s were stuck playing a team ranked #160 in state rankings whereas other schools first in their league faced teams with a much higher rating. Summit was ranked #411 in Div. 6 playing RHL 2nd place team. Either way a team has to win 4 straight post season games to be consider a Champion of each div. So good luck going forward to all the teams still in the hunt.
@TPeterson,
Be careful my friend….I know your skeletons…..
All of these grown men on here talking about education. Yet none of them know the difference between “your” and “you’re” LOL
From T. Peterson: I was just thinking the same thing. You’re correct.
Complaining about Referees is for losers.
sure even the best ref blows calls or misses them. But many think they are out there to alter the outcome of the game. That is far from the case. And in the playoffs to negate any perception of bias or past history, refs are moved to divisions and or areas so as not to ref games for teams they normally would be assigned to geographically.
So clearly, blaming refs is for losers.
There is nothing so entertaining when parents/fans in the stands yell about calls when what they yell often displays that they haven’t a clue about the rules.
@anothingmous… I agree with SGVinsider…why you always pointing out mistakes and errors on this site..is it necessary. Is that your way of trying to convince us that you are intelligent or superior….pleasssseeeee….what’s important here is that you understand..nobody gets points for correct grammar….just make your point and move on….why try to insult someone’ …..agree or disagree….if your going to insult someone be a man and leave your name, address or a place to meet up after the insult and time you want to confront them in person……
I could bet SGV Insider didn’t go to Amat he’s just a nutthugger that probably grew up around the block from the school and the football players back in the day let him wear their helmet.
Get off your private school teachers lap and DELETED already. DELETED and Amat.
Hahahahaha, got eeeemmmm
@ “This is confusing”: By no means am I saying that La Serna wasn’t capable of beating St. Francis. This is part of the reason I opted to travel to this game. Out of all my area teams, I believed this game would prove to be the best one to see this week (and I wasn’t wrong).
I am not aware of what their series record is against each other. What I am aware of is that St. Francis is currently ranked 71 in the state while La Serna is ranked 242 in the state.
@ SGV INSIDER: sounds like you’re from the private school system and probably an Amat guy. You might want to be mindful of your spelling and grammar before you knock the public school system. You’re definitely a piece of work…….
Once again, best wishes to all our area teams who are moving on to the second round.
@SGVinsider
I’m not a hater, just a realist.
D3 would be perfect fit for Amat. It’s going to be okay, Bro. Maybe next year, right?
La Serna is always a good team. They’ve played St Francis five times in the past four years, including three times in the playoffs. (SF leads the series 3-2, but trails 1-2 in playoffs). The games are usually nailbiters. This year was no different – in fact, it could have “gone either way”.
Somehow the fact that this game could have gone either way means that St Francis has been “completely exposed”. If St Francis had barely beat (maybe with some home cooking) a team like Pioneer or San Gabriel, then they really would have been exposed. Are you suggesting that La Serna is a lousy team that should never be able to run St Francis close? By my reckoning, both schools are solid D3 teams that anyone should be worried about. I guess you don’t think either of them is any good.
@Anonymous,
Who are you the to question sentence structure ? Are you the spelling police ? Your just a clown…Move on junior before you get spanked.
Now I didn’t get to see their first meeting this season but I heard it was a blowout in favor of St. Francis. But here are a couple situations where the refs had a huge impact on the game:
1. A goalline stop for a forced fumble against St. Francis on the LS 1yd line and no whistle blown dead to have the official on their sideline call the runner down but he was never down.
(that eventually turned into a SF score)
2. LS had a kick off return down inside the St. Francis 20(ish) and the ref on their sideline threw a late flag for a “hold”. Not saying LS would have scored (FG or TD) but a legit chance to do so.
Maybe I may have used a poor choice of words in calling them “their refs” but there is no arguing that those calls were huge on impacting the outcome of this game. Just stating what I saw from my seat……not all of us are an “INSIDER” but we all have our “TWO CENTS”.
Best wishes to all the teams moving forward to the second round.
@ SGV Insider
Before you make statements about sub-standard public education, maybe you should be sure that your post has correct sentence structure and punctuation.Your private school education is showing.
@Chameleon,
Amat played great last night. After the poor start they got to go toe to toe with Bosco right up to the end was great for them going into the off season. Meanwhile your still a hater and always will be a hater. It’s ok, your poor public school education was good enough for McDonalds. Don’t forget to super size my soda when I come through junior.
Poor Amat.
@Just an OL has been,
Just FYI my friend. Officials for playoff games come from different associations throughout the section. In Saint Frances case the officials you are referring to were not from the association that works games in that area. So before you go and say ” their officials ” make sure you have the facts. The better team won. Plan and simple.
i thought Halloween was two weeks ago. One of the refs must have dressed as the La Serna QB. How else could he had affected the game by throwing an interception inside the twenty with about a minute to go as “Just an ol has been” described.
Is downey in a lower division.i looked at there bracket it look like a walk through ?
Go Pac 8!
Dont bet against the Bank.
In a game that could have gone either way, St. Francis (and their officials) find a way to top La Serna 31-27. Really unfortunate that grown men who are expected to do their job without bias can make such an impact on the outcome of a game.
La Serna was moving the ball inside the St. Francis 20 with just over a minute to go and threw an interception in the end zone. Quite the game to witness. Glad I chose to go to this one. Not sure how far St. Francis will advance after being completely exposed by the Lancers.
