    @ @Almont Fan

I guess you don’t know how to read. Nowhere did I say that the Almont League is the best.

It’s simple, you are just a hater upset that BG won its first round and our school lost our first round game. Sorry for you, but let’s move forward.

Yes, the Almont League has a long way to go, and the only way we can go is up.

Montebello had a nice run the last seven years but hasn’t being able to get over that hump to be CIF Champs.

Schurr has been pretty consistent as well and had a nice run last year. They should have won it last year, but oh well.

Alhambra had a pretty good season at 8-2. Can’t wait to see them even better next year.

Now BG is in the quarterfinals and has a pretty legit offense. They started slow this year, but are playing some good football right now.

All this MHS, SHS, BG, Alhambra hating stuff needs to stop. Let’s support one another when we need to.

When we play against each other, let’s talk trash to each other. That’s cool. That helps with motivation .

But when we are all in the playoffs, playing against other leagues, we should be rooting for each other. We need to promote our league.

And no, I am not a BG alumni, BG employee or BG fan in general. I’m a Spartan.

But right now, I’m an Almont Fan!

    Let’s do this Lancers!

And next year, I’ll be cheering for Schurr again, until we all reach the playoffs!

I believe the Almont League will improve. Great kids and some pretty darn good coaches!

Well you got it buddy. I know it’s hard to get used to but you’re the front runner now no need to look back at little old SEM. Just keep on your winning ways the more you win the better it is for our league.
P freaking S…. SEM go get Hector Spathias and his staff.

Say what you want about the Almont and Bell Gardens, all I know is that it is Beltran’s third year as head coach and BG was Almont League champs (Co with Montebello) and in the Quarterfinals of the playoffs. Say what you want, that is pretty impressive! First playoff win for the program since 2002 I believe. Hate all you want, Bell Gardens is the last standing in the playoffs.

The Almont is Horrible rn! BGHS will get exposed this Friday. There is no upcoming talent throughout the whole league. It’s a shame that it’s downgraded so much. The only reason why the games were “good” is because all teams are equally bad… Not as talent as before

Take it easy Dlinedad. Don’t get ahead of yourself so quickly. Let’s put things into perspective here. Both the Del Rio League and the Del Rey League are almost equally weak (although 3 of the 5 Del Rio teams had legit winning seasons while only two, and one barely, Del Rey teams had a winning record), so you can’t really say either team has the edge based on strength of schedule. So let’s move on to the 1st round playoff games. St. Paul played a team that went 3-8 on the season and hadn’t scored a single touchdown since October 2nd…AGAINST AN 0-10 TEAM. La Serna, on the other hand played a 6-5 Colony team….while I admit it’s barely a winning record, Colony did manage to beat three tough teams with legit 7-4 winning records this season. I think La Serna has a bit more to brag about after the first round than St. Paul. Let’s also take a look at each teams playoff history…I’ll save you the suspense…La Serna has a big edge here. Their coaches and players are all battle tested and are no stranger to doing what it takes to make deep runs into the postseason. Not so much for the Swordsmen. Anyway…that’s just what’s on paper. This is going to be a great matchup regardless who comes out on top. With crosstown rivalry status and backyard brawl potential, this is a tough one to call….though my heart, and if I were a betting man, my money is on the LANCERS!!! Good luck Dlinedad.

The Del Rey league is crap. Only 1 other team other than SP has a positive rating whereas the Del Rio only has one negative. Talk all you want we will see what happens on Friday.

Disappointed that MHS lost. Schurr’s loss was expected. BGHS win was a pleasent surprise.

Unfortunate that BGHS lost their best player to an injury for the second round.

But very impressed with the number of quality backs they have. Don’t count them out.

Time for all Almont schools to root for BGHS to bring some respect to our league.

So for quite some time now, I’ve had this possible match up in my crosshairs. Before it gets too carried away, let’s visit some areas of interest in this game.
    1. SP & LS are both run heavy teams. What’s the projected under/over on the total time to complete this game?
    2. This St. Paul team is very reminiscent of the 2007 championship with Coach Pete at the helm……”all the out of area recruits”.
    3. Both teams have league titles under their belt this season in very average leagues.
    4. Coaching experience: Zepeda vs George
Who has more experience in big time situations?
    5. Home field advantage…….playing at the PIT is not what it used to be. They only have on side of stands. What is the capacity at this field?
    6. LS Played against La Mirada 3 and 4 yrs ago in the postseason and found a way to be competitive against a much more “talented” and recruited team of LM. Last year LS battled against another talented team in St Franics. Coach George has had much more post season experience in comparison to Zepeda as Head Coaches in much higher divisions.
    7. As HC, Zepeda has not been in the postseason too often. SPHS went to the 2nd round in playoffs last year against Saugus. The team this year seems to have much more talent.
    8. If coaching in the big game weighs heavily on the outcome, “Advantage George”
    9. If talent weighs heavily on the outcome, “Advantage Zepeda”
    10. The crown of the field is no longer. The length of the grass is no longer. It’s been quite sometime since those were factors at The Pit. Seems like this is a toss up. Get there early for parking and a seat, this should turn into a packed house. Best of luck to both programs. This may turn out to be an exciting one for the Greater Whittier area.

Put aside the backyard brawl aspect of the upcoming St. Paul-La Serna duel, and what we have is a team that concentrates on the run (Swordsmen) versus a team whose number one defensive priority is stopping the run. The only teams that have a chance against the Lancers are those with a sharp passing game, and I don’t believe that describes the Group from Greenleaf. I’ll take Andy George’s kids, 35-21.

I didn’t know they were the number 1 seed…. good job PHS on to Beaumont! And looking at their schedule alone…. they have not had a close game since week 1 vs. Palm Desert. They’ve been blowing teams out. If the Bulldogs smack them in the mouth and play disciplined, and use our speed, they can get another upset win.

I’m right here! Check you out all cocky and bragging. What are you excited about beating churches and camps and academies? Lmfao! Come on bro. Just win your ring and ride off into the sunset!
To answer your question my criticism is still pointed at the same individuals. Our Terrible OC Melendez how in most games couldn’t score more than once per game official stats coming shortly. And I blame Gallardo for hiring this guy who obviously can’t call a game. Come to find out he has never been on a varsity staff…EVER! The only success he’s had is on the Jr peewee level!!! The other criticism I have is Gallardo firing Coach Mike Mooney for no apparent reason other than being a successful football coach. Then reading about him help Arcadia have an unbelievable season. Again my son is a Jr and I just can’t allow him to stay at SEM if Melendez is back! I vote for SEM administrators to go get my old Offensive Coordinator go get Hector Spathias!!! The entire city would go in a craze! Coach Spathias if you’re reading this COME HOME!!!

They also said that Spathias couldn’t win at Los Altos and overall he had a winning season. That’s when they brought him in and said to at least try to win a couple of games. Spathias not a bad season after taking over the team at end if summer.

Although the score doesnt indicate how close that game really was last night in Palm Dessert, Monrovia played them tooth and nail till the end and It all started falling apart in the final quarter. Turnovers were our main reason for the momentum changes in the game. I think if we had really mixed it up a bit more with our run game it may have come our much different in the end. As for the check-outs at Monrovia, think again, I hearing just the opposite and I’m usually spot on with whats happening on the streets. Monrovia will do fine in the coming seasons and Williams will be there when it happens. I know of some great players who are coming town next season and with Nick Hernanadez and Devon Mayes in our backfield things will change drastically in a good way. Good season Cats….. You still have great fans even if some are Haters they are the ones who love you the most.

The story of week one is blowouts galore and ridiculously tiny crowds. Many have urged the tweaking of CIF’s selection process, but I have another idea: mandatory attendance forced upon citizens who are summoned for ‘sports duty’, just like jury duty. Everyone can be compelled to attend one public school athletic event per twelve-month period, as a way of helping to raise other peoples’ kids. There should be no way out of this service, and dissenters should be branded as unpatriotic.

SM the #4 cal Preps and Maxpreps rated team got according to cal preps and Max Preps the 5th rated team in Segerstom (costa mesa) for a home game. And the two teams that were rated the same proceeded to play to their ratings in a game decided by less than 1 foot. Segerstrom came back from 21-7 to score twice at the end of the 3rd and late in the fourth quarter. A key play was a ilegal downing play that cost SM almost 40 yard in field position. Segerstrom returned the punt to the SM 30 and went in to score after converting two 4th down plays.
With the game SM 21 Segerstrom 20, Segerstrom went for two with a QB keeper off left tackle. And the QB was tackled a foot short of the goal line as he tried to find pay dirt slanting off left tackle.

Segerstrom executed an onsides kick with 3 minutes + left, SM recovered and had the ball at the Segerstom With a one point lead SM could do nothing with their possession with 3 Minutes left as on third down they just missed a 40 yd pass play that was on target but was dropped rather than being a back breaker.

With around 2 minutes left Segerstrom got the ball back on their 20 and could do nothing turning the ball over on downs to end the game.

From the other scores on the scoreboard in one sided games, this was the game to have gone to on Friday.
