(Azusa) – Darren Spence, the former head coach at North Salinas, has been named the new head coach at Azusa.
Spence spent four years at North Salinas going 16-26 overall before being dismissed after the 2017 season. His best season was 2015 when he guided the Vikings to a league title and a 9-3 record.
Spence, who will also take over the duties of Athletic Director, replaces Robert Beltran who was let go earlier this year. The Aztecs went 4-6 overall last year and 3-2 in the Montview League.
Azusa opens the 2019 season Friday night August 30 at Vasquez.
