(El Monte) – El Monte running back Davon Booth received an offer from San Jose State Monday he posted on Twitter.

Booth, who rushed for 2,935 yards and 36 touchdowns last year while leading the Lions to an undefeated season and a State championship, hasn’t signed with San Jose State as of yet. “I am keeping my options open,” Booth said.

His grades and SAT aren’t there yet. Once his grades make him eligible he will sign. The offer is real, but it is contingent on his grades. Not rocket science.

Signing makes it official. An offer is not. If other players happen to land on their laps then the offer to Booth could be gone. Signing means he’s locked in. In some ways he could be rolling the dice. Hopefully the right people are giving him the right advice.

Why rush? San Jose can pull the “offer” anytime. If he’s on the fence, and wants to see what other options are available, I doubt San Jose waits too long if it’s real. They’ll “offer” another kid who is more bought in. All said, I’m sure it’s a preferred walk on offer, which is fine but please report accurately. Not this fake stuff!

The offer isnt going anywhere, he can wait and see if any other schools that he has talked with end up losing a player or two for various reasons and end up offering him. There really is no reason he has to commit at this point except for to make other people happy.

I clicked on the website like you said. Then I clicked on his Davon’s name and it said there were no other offers on the table. Brings me back to my original point. Why hasn’t the kid signed already then if it’s a real offer? Grades? Come on Coach C, help the kid out man!

Since we are getting technical guy, that’s not theirs official website. It looks like a fan page or blog. Time will tell. He’s either going to sign or go JC.

The best RB in the nation is going JC. I’m not hating that’s reality. You are not D1 if you don’t have the grades.

this kid has talent no question and he deserves with his talent to be at D1 , But I do not know why D1 schools are not lined up in front of the school begging to see him and sign him on the spot

    @Tim

“kids get offered and sign after signing day all the time”

please name 3 kids in the sgv that has happened to over the past 10 years. for a D-I
THE FAKE D3 OFFERS where the kid still pays but says they are on scholarships are the same.
he wont sign, he wont go and will probably go to a JC and say he wanted a bigger school when he has nothing. its on the coaching saying hes the best rb in the state when they cant even get him a anything. EM runs 4 plays on offense should have helped him in the classrom instead of using this poor boy on the field.

We can put this to rest pretty easy.

Coach C, can you confirm that San Jose State came in with a full ride scholarship offer please? What other schools have offered this young man a full ride scholarship. Will wait, Thanks!

Really hope this kid makes it out and that this isn’t fake news.

    #FAKENEWS

If it was a real offer he would have signed! Signing day has passed kid is 19 already signing day almost a month ago and EM is announcing an offer? Yeah right.

Good luck to him. EM just trying to lure more recruits by saying he got offered.

Why talk about an offer WHEN HE CAN SIGN?!
From T. Peterson: Are you serious? Kids are offered and sign after “signing day” all the time. It’s a fairly common practice.

We’d know because EM and Mid Valley would be broadcasting all over the website. If he didn’t take the offer I suspect grades is his issue. Also, was it a full scholarship offer or Preferred walk on?

    Thanks though
