Chino Hills Holds off Glendora, 13-7

(Glendora) – The Chino Hills Huskies posted their first win of the year Thursday evening, holding on to beat the host Glendora Tartans, 13-7, in front of a raucous crowd at Citrus College.


Chino Hills started the evening’s scoring when QB Favian Vasquez connected with Sophomore WR Cameron Bateman for a 22-yard TD strike. The point after was successfully converted by Orion Jennings, making the score 7-0 with 8:03 remaining in the game’s first period.

The Huskies’ found the end-zone for a second time, just a few minutes later, as Vasquez connected with WR Tyrese Boss for a 4-yard score. The extra point attempt was missed, making the score 13-0 with 11:22 remaining in the half.

Vasquez had a good evening, completing 17 of 27 passes, for 192 yards, with including the two aforementioned touchdowns.

Glendora finally got on the board early in the 4th quarter, when Zach Ford scored on a 1-yard TD run. The PAT was added by Jack Norell, making the score 13-7, which would end up being the final score.

Chino Hills next contest is schedule for next Friday night when the Huskies will host the Diamond Ranch Panthers. Also on Friday Glendora will be home to battle the Pasadena Bulldogs. Kickoff for both of these contests is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.

    Chino Hills was better at nearly every position. Penalties kept them from routing the Tartans. Pasadena may be more than they can handle next week, as well. At least they’ll be at home again. They will need every advantage they can get.
