Wildcats Leap Over Larchmont

(Monrovia) – Monrovia went on a 17-8 run in the second quarter to build a 14-pont halftime lead and rolled to a 78-40 win over visiting Larchmont Charter Friday night.

The Wildcats led 16-11 after the first quarter and went on a quick 13-2 run to open the second quarter and were up 33-19 at the break. Harland Fluker had four points in the quarter and Alan Duarte did the work inside for five points in the second.

By the time the third quarter ended Monrovia had extended the advantage to 21 as Makael Reynolds came off the bench to score eight points along with Devynn Higgins who had six.

The Wildcats poured it in the final frame as Reynolds continued with the hot hand with eight more points and Fluker ignited the crowd with a rim rattling jam. Monrovia outscored the Timberwolves 25-8 in the fourth and by the time the dust had settled M-Town had a 38-point rout.

Reynolds led the Cats with 16 points and Duarte finished with 13. Fluker jammed his way to 12 and Higgins was also in double figures with 10. Sheek Morris, 8, and Robert Bush, 7, combined for 15.

Larchmont Charter had only one player in double figures as Cyress Williams scored 11 points. Xavier Cruz chipped in nine.

Monrovia improved to 11-2 with the victory while Larchmont dropped to 7-4.
