Amazing program, one of the strongest in the San Gabriel Valley. This is comedy, freshmen qb battle for a Delaware Wing-T offense, find a QB who can hand the ball off and run a play action pass, nothing to it, this is why La Serna continues to dominate.
@Anon Develop? hmmmmm interesting , most of LS QB’s (99.9%) have developed themselves , teaching the LS offense is not “development” , is someone coaching from the bench while this “future QB” battle is taking place? or is someone showing them how to make proper PreSnap Reads, Footwork, Coverages , formations , ect. ?
How did this turn into a El Rancho vs La Serna argument?
act like sisters fighting all the time
ER – win , do something to beat LS or you will always be there pet
LS – continue to win bc your arrogance puts a HUGE target on your back, and stop lying to yourself and admit you benefit from open enrollment and our district favors you guys. Not recruiting? sure bob, you dont get transfers? sure bob. stop fighting to stay in DRL if we are so pity
Let’s not make this about race or favoritism
Let the better QB win the job. Both players have things in their favor. Montebello kid has more experience, and Long kid has the size. Good luck to both players. My money is on one the montebello kid seen him Sunday he’s nice.
No bitterness…. La Serna is the dragon, they are top dog for a reason, we need to try to slay the dragon nothing else we can do, complaining wont do anything.
ER is trash and ghetto! Better leave those poppers at tu casa! or bring them and I will pop them as Grady throws a TD to Owen, keep dreaming you had a family like The Longs. I get more joy beating them than the little sister across Whittier Blvd.
zero offense intended
I apologize for my humor, I have loved watching the Long family and what you guys have done at LS. I was merely referencing what I saw Sunday, that QB did not look like part of the Long Family. Personally these are just children so I would not join in putting kids names on these boards for entertainment. There for you can say equally with defining a Family also. I do apologize.
I don’t follow youth sports, too old for that now. I do not know who has done what in youth like the brea guy ( he sounds like the kids coach) . 6’3 ? wow? freshman? we haven’t had a kid at QB that big since Andrew Buenrostro and he was a great QB. The Hispanic kid looked nothing near 6’0 but Then you have little Frankie Palmer who showed its not all about size.
I hope to see both kids Sunday in some good Competition.
I would be careful with those comments, you are speaking on some kids and family who are near and dear to me, I do not know who or what Mexican kid you are talking about, I know the QB being mentioned on here was with his older brother in Pullman this weekend. I would be careful trying to cause a controversy, La Serna is going to continue with the status quo and you know what that is. Andy, Coach P et al know who they have coming in, In my 48 years of life I’ve learned there are only a few guarantees in life, taxes, death and the longs, Capeesh?
As a alumni and long time Lancer, I understand and appreciate The Long Family BUT
I wouldn’t put all my money in the next Long kid. UNLESS mommy long had a baby with the gardener. There was some Hispanic kid who was throwing some nice balls. Everyone else looked basic for a freshman team. I did over hear couple parents talking about that QB, but I will keep that to myself.
Its funny how every excuse is made to be negative on LS , we are only doing what is with in our control. If other schools don’t want to put more focus on Athletics, we will gladly accept all of athletes from Whittier or any surrounding area to come join our Lancer Family.
Trust me when I say, we didn’t invent the recipe – we just follow it.
Any athlete who needs bus passes will be given one free of charge to help ensure you can focus on your athletic career here at LS.
He’s the prototypical HS QB, 6’3 with a cannon, he needs to fill out, but judging by what Dylan, Jake and Owen have going on Grady is on pace to be just as big if not bigger than the other boys. Based on the last 2 years of watching him at the youth level Grady will be the top qb in the Del Rio League within 2 years, no body will come close, and forgot to mention he’s just as good if not better at baseball, La Serna has football and baseball on lock.
NO QB In This picture???
Dont Be Surprised If Grady Long is The Starter On Varsity , LS Will Struggle At The QB Position This Year, We Are About To Really See How ” TOP NOTCH” This Coaching Staff Is…
Some of you cry so much about LS. Every post about them. “They’re not neighborhood kids” , “their pre season ain’t sxxt” , “their league is weak”. So f’n what. They get coached by a real good staff win games CIF Finals appearances, a title since this nice 15 yr run they’ve had. Who has had a better run? Amat? No! CO? No! A Maxie team? No! Matt V team? No! All these teams and people everyone loves talking about. Everyone is hating because they’re not winning the games or getting the transfers.
The sad part is that DRL is becoming D13or 14…..Pioneer already dispatched to 605 , Santa Fe quickly replaced them as league “gimme” game (lost to Rosemead last year and new hire is head scratcher); once proud Whittier reduced to 30 varsity players last year and best remaining players have transferred out; Cal Hi had good squad two years ago but unable to replicate , leaving only El Rancho to give a glimpse of competition.
These other schools, judging by hires are largely forsaking football and trying to find niche in other sports #closertoKeppel
The La Serna neighborhood students are driven a few blocks and dropped off by their mommy’s in big safe suv’s. The La Serna athletes are dropped off by Metro, Norwalk and Montebello buses on Whittier Blvd. I see it every school day.
Yea right, I see a couple of players on this graphic that live nowhere close to friendly hills. WUHSD you are trash for what you’ve done to your other schools in favor of la Serna
Pasadena- W running clock w/out Maxie
Los Alamitos- L. Not a blowout but not close either
Warren- W
Tesoro- W
Damien- L
Newbury Park- W
DRL- YAWN! Can they just play a full non-league schedule now?
The Lancers’ toughest game is, without a doubt, the one versus Los Alamitos. Many top players in the Lakewood/Long Beach area are choosing the tuition-free route, and are finding Los Al to be a great choice in that category. Plus, the Griffins’ coaching staff is absolutely top-notch, better even than the one in Friendly Hills. No wonder Moschetti struggled to get talent into La Mirada…he was bidding against one of the best public schools in the state.
If only they knew

some of you pr people are ridiculous
Can always count on Pico Rivera to enter the chat when La Serna is mentioned. You key board warriors feel better ?
La Serna plays buy the rules and does things the right way. No need for transfers when you have great
coaches who develop kids.
No bitterness…. La Serna is the dragon, they are top dog for a reason, we need to try to slay the dragon nothing else we can do, complaining wont do anything.

That’s so cool bashing a good family on the internet. Grow up
El Rancho fans have entered the chat. Bitter??
@Anon Im sure the Longs are happy another one of their sons is going to be coached by that QB coach

Theee Grady Long era is about to begin! Might be the best Long boy out of the 4.

@?
Cry harder
WOW they cra cra. But will get them battle-tested for playoffs.
I can see La Serna winning only 1 game (Pasadena) in their non-league schedule and smoking the DRL which would set them up nicely in CIF.
How many times you gonna put this up? Playing a D1 schedule but fighting to stay in a league with all teams D10 and lower. Cowardly.
Who would of thought, as big as the WUHSD is that all the best players reside in the
”Friendly Hills”. Home grown talent.

Good schedule . Warren Damien and Newbury Park in the middle of league schedule to keep
The team sharp
But Los Al game is stern test for sure
