- UCLA point guard Tyger Campbell has declared for the NBA draft. Campbell leaves UCLA as number two on the all-time assists list with 655 behind Pooh Richardson who had 833 from 1985-1989.
- UCLA guard Amari Bailey, who just finished his freshman year, is declaring for the NBA draft.
- UConn star Adama Sonogo, who just completed his sophomore year, is declaring for the NBA draft.
- Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown was voted the National Basketball Coach’s Association Coach of the Year.
- The Clippers will open the NBA Playoffs at Phoenix on Sunday.
- The Lakers, after beating Minnesota in the play-in game Tuesday night, will open a best of seven series at Memphis on Sunday.
- The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 9-3 Thursday to improve to 13-0 to start the season. That matches the 13-0 starts of the 1982 Atlanta Braves and the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers.
- Pasadena has hired a new head football coach according to several sources and will make an announcement once it’s official.
- Baseball: Arcadia and Crescenta Valley are tied for first place in the Pacific League with records of 9-0. The two teams will face off Tuesday April 25 at Arcadia at 7:00 p.m.
- Baseball: Monrovia is in first place in the Rio Hondo League at 5-3.
