Matadors Welcome Pasadena in Scrimmage

(San Gabriel) – San Gabriel Coach Jude Oliva announced Thursday night on the Mid Valley Sports Show that Eric Alvarez is his starting quarterback. Alvarez solidified that position in a scrimmage with Pasadena Friday night.

What do we know? Southeast Division

Last week we brought you what we know and don’t know about the Mid-Valley Division. Now we’ll go with the Southeast. The Southeast is a different animal. There are four leagues instead of six and 28 teams instead of 38.

For what its worth…below is a list of prominent transfers figuring to make an impression this season. No doubt we’ve missed some, but these are the ones we’ve seen with our own eyes. Some of these guys should have a serious impact for their schools.

I took a break last week from the nine to five. Since I didn’t have any travel plans or dinner plans for that matter it turned into a working vacation. I saw nearly 30 schools in six days – including 18 at last Saturday’s SGV Shootout at Gladstone High in preparation for the football season.

Pasadena Passes the Eye Test

(San Gabriel) – There have been constant coaching changes at Pasadena. The Bulldogs are working on their third Head Coach in the last three years. But one thing that doesn’t change on Sierra Madre Blvd is the speed and athleticism of the players. At least it looked that way on Tuesday.
