(Carson) – The Galaxy gave up two late goals in extra time and fell to FC Dallas 2-1 Wednesday night in the U.S. Open Cup semi final at StubHub Center.

The Galaxy appeared to be in control when Mike Magee scored ten minutes into extra time on a penalty kick for a 1-0 advantage. Magee was awarded the kick when Giovani dos Santos was knocked down by FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz. But it fell apart late in the second half of extra time when Matt Hedges scored on a corner kick to tie it and then Victor Ulloa scored on another corner in stoppage time to win it.

The Galaxy had eight total shots and FC Dallas five but neither team could find the net in the first half. FC Dallas had a couple of opportunities early but was unable to get the ball past LA goalkeeper Brian Rowe. Mike Magee had a shot from close range in the 22nd minute after a nice dish from Emmanuel Boateng but Seitz was there for the save for Dallas.

Dos Santos and Gyasi Zardes entered the game in the 74th minute to try to stir things up for the Galaxy but they still weren’t able to push anything across.

Both teams battled near the center of the field but neither has made a serious challenge as time ran out on regulation.

Two minutes of additional time added but still nothing across. The game headed into two 15-minute overtime sessions.

The Galaxy finally broke the scoreless deadlock when Magee scored on the penalty kick. It stayed that way until Hedges and Ulloa turned it around late. Both Dallas goals were assisted by Mauro Diaz.
