Cantu Offered by UTEP

Aaron Cantu headed to El Paso?

Former Schurr High standout and current ELAC and 2011 Mountain Conference Offensive Player of the Year Aaron Cantu has been offered a scholarship from the University of Texas, El Paso.

When asked about the offer, Cantu said, ” I’m definitely excited. I am headed to El Paso this weekend for a visit and to meet the staff.”

Cantu, a two year starter at Schurr, threw for 2822 yards and 21 touchdowns in his senior season leading the Spartans to the second round of the playoffs where they fell to eventual Mid-Valley CIF champion Monrovia. I saw this kid play vs Monrovia…he is a player. He handled his career nicely! He took the JC route, pass his classes balled on the field, and is playing D-1…Great work. Others should follow his example.

Congratulations Cheap QB! You’ve work very hard in the weight room, and on the field to get where you are now! I’m proud to have been able to put my two cents in yelling at you, breaking you down, building you up, encouraging you and praising you to lead our Spartan team. You deserve it! Yakis burgers on me!!!

P.S. I still think you should’ve played Offensive Tackle for me! lol.

He does have an awkward release and mechanics but he is doing the job. He had a great school (schurr) that surrounded him and believe in him that always helps.

ELAC did their part as well, and this is the end result..

Not a Schurr a fan, but an Aaron Cantu fan. This kid has proven he is a winner. No need to knock him, just wish him the best of luck and hope to see him in D-1. He has size and a rocket launcher arm. Good luck Aaron and wish you much success. Go Moors!
