The other picks out of that 18 team division had 1 and 2 wins one of those teams was Buena Park 1-9
Completely agree with TheRanch18. I’ve watched the seniors give up. There’s no intensity, no heart with these kids. I remember Coach Shelko (RIP) days. Those kids played with blue pride in their veins. Kids like Arellanes, Madrid, Loera, Quintero, so many more. And I’ll Say another thing. These younger boys get always get a sh*t coaching staff for freshman. I’ve seen a few games, they have some talent there, but the coaches were weak. No discipline, boys didn’t hustle. What about the great Camacho. Didn’t see him do anything but gather his recyclables and sit on his park chair. And you wonder why we can’t keep the boys in the program. It starts from the bottom. I’ve heard a few families looking to take their kids elsewhere because the coaches were halfassing the season. Dont get me started on their teenage offensive coordinator. He needs to go back to playing Madden before he coaches these kids.
Most schools will be in session on Friday. Players usually are done with there day by 12:30 or so anyway . Parents if you think the first round games are bad, wait until you see some of the possible round 2 matchup travel distances maybe.
At least the Players wont have a long day by attending school that morning. Yes, the bad thing is the working parent will have to make adjustments to make a 7pm kickoff.
This El Rancho long time supporter thinks those idiot fans are ludicrous, Medrano is doing an excellent job and simply didn’t have the horses I keep repeating myself over and over and that is the honest to god truth not much talent to work with but almost managed to pull it off, can’t wait till we actually have a stock pile of talent so Medrano can really make some noise around here.
Veterans Day for the kids no school.
Isnt friday a holiday? Traffic shouldnt be an issue.
From T. Peterson: No. it’s not a holiday.
I hope Medrano leaves El Rancho or gets fired for his own sake. You ER fans are nuts. You’ve won 1 playoff game in 16 years, 1 league championship in 20 years, and you act like if you have some kind of great program. I saw the team you guys have and the kids are very slow. Not much you can do when not a single player runs under a 5.0 40 time. I saw a perfectly designed play go for about 20 yards which would have been a touchdown for most teams but the receiver was too slow to outrun anybody. I saw a run play go against only 4 defenders but it was stopped for only 1 yard because the d-linemen pushed the o-linemen straight back.
But that didn’t stop the fans from constantly yelling “Come on Coach!” (What does that even mean?) Or “Hit Somebody!” Great observations from the fans there. Tons of football intellect smh. If they ran the ball it was “we should be throwing.” If they threw the ball it was “why aren’t they running.”
I’ve sat in lots of stands and the ER fan experts were by far the absolute worst, even worst than Amat. Not sure why none of them applied for the gig or maybe they did.
Division 5: Long Beach Woodrow Wilson at Paramount
@Saturday Football,
There is a reason it’s called FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.
@Chameleon,
They play because nobody wants to see whatever school you support play. Enjoy small time football. Big boy football is obviously to much for you.
Agreed, LA is traveling to Moorpark on a Friday night. We should be sitting on the 101 for a few hours. Hopefully we make the game. Visitor side bleachers should be almost empty. Completely unfair to working parent’s that want to go support their kids.
Poor Amat is going to get shellacked. Why even play that game? Lol
“And the games attendance and fan support will be lower than usual due to travel distances”
How many of these games are being played on Saturday night? Quite a few of them should be. A handful of games (Arroyo, Arcadia, Golden Valley) have no business being played on a school/work night. It’s unfair to the athletes, and it’s unfair to the parents.
Recently I have heard more coaches & parents preaching that more kids stay local and play ball in high school with kids they played youth football with. Duh, what took so long.
Bishop Amat is traveling to St John Bosco. D1 for some reason is skipped when it’s where the big boys play and BA loses first round every year
@ Tim
Don’t think so. I’m sure you’ll have more details on games of the week to add. LOL
El rancho needs to have their own message board…. Geez
Not salty one bit and good luck to you guys
@ El Rancho Alumnus
no one said it was acceptable… but you were at every game this year correct… so you saw exactly what i saw… A senior class that called it quits after La Serna got off the bus at Cal-Hi …. i swear… by the pre game chant ALONE…. you can see ER will LOSE… they had no Leaders this year, kids are not 100% in the program… but who can blame them… this senior class has had nothing but uncertainty, no off season programs , new head coach and staff , new system new program new plan… this senior class had me upset but as i think about it … they did what they could…. and i simply refer to stats bc that shows you a kids progression … but again … a coach can only give the kids the tools to use on the feild… its up to the kids to execute…. as for what i saw all year , medrano put the kids in positon… setlich defense would hit and miss depending on the blitz that was called…. but see this is what your missing out on … if you have to blitz 90% of the time… to me thats a problem…
maybe this is the coaches fault – but the kids didnt play “vicious” “angry” ” you never been hit till you been hit by The Ranch!” ill respect a 1-9 season … 1-4 league … if they play with passion and heart .. The Ranch Way … not this quit and throw tantrum BS fake injury crap.. take yourself out.. weak.
With stability at ER now … i hope this changes the culture… beltran is good but dont knock medrano…. i would agree that wing t is better suited for our type of athletes… but lets not forget what vinnie did with pico kids… so we know it can be done…. we need at least 1 x-factor athlete.

**
Division 13
Workman at Santa Clara
Azusa at Rio Hondo Prep
La Puente at Nogales
From T. Peterson: Thanks Bulldog. “Game Night” is done!
Er chumps, why is Schurr in a “weaker division” ? Because if the bit so good record we had prior to the CIF changing the division placing. So we thank our last coaching staff for placing Schurr where they are now. As for you my friends, keep the trend your going because if you keep it up you will probably end up in D13. Time to get over this season and move on. 3-7 is not bad for rebuilding. Lol. BTW usually a coach is judged by his 3rd season. Ramos is in his 3rd and look at where he is. Beltran has had 2 seasons and is tending in a good direction. Medrano?????? Come join your PR Dons and TC players on the sideline at our playoff game. LOL
No one will beat Culver City. Just give them the trophy now and play for 2nd.
Hey buddy it wasn’t a knock on you or Montebello, it was more of a compliment… I just think you guys with the kid Tapia has a great chance. My focus is on all the games including the Spartans. So… chill buddy, sound salty still!
@stelios shs lol your funny….more like schurr should walk thru easily you guys get a really hard one 1st round at 3-7 which usually happens for #1 seeds so congrats and good luck..To say that Montebello has it the easiest is laughable..if Montebello makes it past pas/prep they have the number#1 seed second round 10-0 Apple Valley loaded with talent then by miracle if they beat Apple they probably have Quartz Hill another monster….Schurr is having a great run this year your focus should be on your team and not Montebello enjoy and good luck
Tustin at Burbank should be a good first-round matchup, but the real deal is Edison at La Habra; that’s an opening round gift from the Gods.
there are some good match ups in the 1st round. Who’s the biggest lock to win? I feel like the Montebello draw was the easiest. They should walk into the semis. Good luck to the teams
@Elrancho
No one hates you and can you just quit it already you guys are f@&$ing annoying!…. Thanks and good luck next yr 👍🏼
Isn’t Cantwell part of your mid valley coverage area? I know we aren’t established like other schools in the area. But let show all local schools some love.
I do not understand the seeding, division rankings, league make ups, and someone please explain to me why private schools who can recruit anyone from anywhere are even in the same playoff bracket as public schools!
Yeah @El Rancho I agree w you. The reality is the Almont is a weaker division. That’s why they’re stacked in D-12. It is true ER didn’t get it done in the Del Rio but let’s be real they would have been challenging for a title in the Almont. Maybe the Almont can get rid of Keppel, San Gabriel and even Alhambra and make league a bit more challenging.
When are we going to realize PRESEASON DOES NOT MATTER! Of course ER beat BG we have better athletes (smacked is not the correct term this year). League and Playoffs matter, I guarantee you ER would not have gone 1-4, would not have lost to Whittier and Cal! I have been to almost every game since 1978 because my kids and grand kids have played for the Ranch, hell I live 2 blocks down the damn street. Don’t give me that Blue Pride crap…my kids and grand kids have bled for this program. I consider this program an extension of my family and what I saw in league was a disgrace! Then I am told to come on this blog and just read what is being said…well maybe I am mistaken but I’ll gladly take a 5-5 record if it gets us in the playoffs! I will gladly take a 1-4 preseason record if we go 5-0, 4-1, hell even 3-2 in league and it gets us in the playoffs! This needs to be fixed! Is Beltran a god, I doubt it! But he built La Serna and he’s is building Bell Gardens. I don’t want to hear about athletes and stats…Bell Gardens doesn’t have La Serna athletes I know that. Just fix what is wrong with the Ranch, 1-4 is unacceptable….losses to Cal and Whittier is unacceptable. We were only up 14 on Pioneer at half. C’mon people, that is unacceptable, well it use to be. There is no wait till next year.
Ok. so only my second post of the year on this site after taking the last four years off, but nothing has changed with this board…..all of the SGV and 10 fwy guys still talking up their overrated programs at the barber shop. Don’t get me wrong, some great programs and kids but lets not forget what little old Burbank did this year after loosing something like two dozen seniors, of which at least 15 were starters, got a new first year head coach and then in a rebuilding year just ran the damn table in the Pacific. You MidValley guys basically anointed CV before the year began and then woke up after Burbank beat them. I suppose you are now hung over after CV lost to Arcadia. In doing that you totally devalued Downey. Not to mention all of those been there, wish we were still there Monrovia guys thinking they are going deep into this Div 7 bracket. Yeah good luck with that. Anyway, good luck to the boys strapping it up this friday night and to all of you dads trying to figure out what the hell happened on Saturday while drinking a suds and getting a fresh cut. See ya.
Obviously talking about the god Beltran….
You guys are some serious kind of stupid, Medrano put his team in position to win a league title and qb play simply failed. Let me guess we failed to get Beltran yet Medrano has smacked that team twice. So many of you love to hate on the ranch because I bet you never beat them in your 3rd string LB days.
Didn’t ER beat BG the last 2 years?
Why does QB stats matter? It doesn’t matter how many yards he has thrown for or rushed for! All that matters is wins and losses in the playoffs….and from what I have seen neither Vinnie or Medrano understand that. I said it two years ago and I am saying it again on this blog….El Rancho made a push for another coach and couldn’t seal the deal and guess what that coach is in the playoffs and building a rival program! That program is on the way up and out program is not! Stats don’t matter, League Championships and CIF Championships do matter! One program is on the rise (in the playoffs with all Juniors) and one program went 1-4 (lost to Whittier & Cal). Damn Shame!
Damn auto correct… I meant Gahr over Santa Fe.
@ SGV Insider, Good calls. I don’t know to much about Lakeside other than they play in a tough league with Heritage and Paloma Valley.
Another upset is Gary over Santa Fe.
@Anonymous,
Arroyo loses to Lakeside and Northview gets hammered by Milikan.
It happened because there are only 18 teams in D3 and 16 making playoffs. Buena Park 1-9 and Serrano 2-8 being the only two teams to not make it. Either add more teams to D3 (I’m sure there are worthy teams) or reduce bracket to 12.
1-9 Crespi….
Does anyone know how they got in playoffs? Wow
Nope… we don’t miss 1st round playoff losses with the best Ranch team in 20 years.
@couldofshouldof
Your a lame lol … yes I follow Pacifica and yes I have a great relationship with vinnie … you don’t know why he left .. we understood why. .. and support his decision.
Vinnie did great in his short time at The Ranch… and he does wonders with QB’s … evident by where all his QB’s numbers and where they at now ! Did we lose out and downgrade with medrano ? HECK NO! did you see what chandler accomplished last year ?! And Rodriguez this year is what it is … but look st the kids stats … these are one and done kids made into QB … let us get one of these youth star QB and watch out
Kids don’t stay in Pico bc the parents believe all the BS and enjoy the taste of it … then when they realize it was all smoke and mirrors … guess what it’s too late and you just ruined the great memories a child can make in HS… like I said keep your kids with whoever they play youth ball… that will create memories, bonds,relationships , accomplishments that you will never replicate when forming an “all-Star” team… and even for the parents will enjoy it more !
Now I hear about recruitment… D1 d2 whatever … college football… if your good enough to play college bal , trust me … you will play.
If the scouts don’t come to you …. then you go to them!
Nothing is ever given or guaranteed like these “other” schools promise and steal our kids lol … if your kid don’t live in Pico yet you participate in Pico .. that makes your kid a Pico kid bc you brought him here to learn the Pico Rivera style! Lol
Wow 1-9 Crespi vs CO D3 is so bad
Apple valley in D10 is a monster
TheRanch18….you following Pacifica? Does it still hurt that Vinnie left you guys and didnt look back?Look likes he’s the one that made the better move. No wonder kids dont stay in Pico its because they see their coaches leave too.
Playoff upset… El Dorado knocks off SEM in D12.
Any others that you predict.
Two years in a row and no Rosemead. 2008 seems so long ago and it’s just sad that a once very good program can go downhill like this.
SF and montebello are same division ? With Pacifica … man that’s going to be a entertaining division ! Those are some good matchups
