4 of the 14 CIF champs are covered by mid valley sports. Looks like Peterson is a good luck charm!

Valley Christian came up short in its bid for CIF glory, but there’s a silver lining in this thing. That runner-up plaque is the same size as the championship plaque, so providing nobody mentions the team’s 6-8 record, it’s going to look great in the trophy case.

It’s my belief that EVERY team in the southern section should be given the chance to purchase a plaque that says “2022 Participant.” The cost would be $950 plus a $95 go-fan service fee, with the proceeds being split between CIF staffers and the Rob Wigod retirement fund. $5 would be extracted from each sale to help the schools, so that it could be loudly proclaimed that “a portion of the money goes to help our student/athletes.”

@SoCal, you are right. CO, LS, Mon, Colony, NV etc…. All these schools over achieved so CIF penalized them. Many schools underachieved like SG, WC, and Walnut and they get rewarded by moving them down a division or two. Question does Northview and Colony, which dominate the regular season with sole possession of first place take this season over last season? What do you do as a coach? Go for first place or put you back-ups in the second half and get put down a division or two like Northview did last year against Los Altos. Anybody with half a brain knows that a CIF championship doesn’t mean much now a days. First place is more of a badge of honor than a CIF championship. CIF made a mockery of the playoffs and this is Rob’s last year of making decisions. It’s time for new blood at the top. Somebody that’s going to put more human critical thinking in the process. The computer is a good tool but it shouldn’t be the only tool.

Monrovia high needs a new head coach. Needs to bring the tradition and discipline……a head coach to embrace the tradition and community

Sadly, Bruce Rollinson will not be leaving Mater Dei in a state of great triumph. Sure, he’ll have another shot at Bosco in the state regionals, but an undisputed national title is off the table. How ironic that a team which emphasizes physicality, both on the field and in the locker room, was out-‘bodied’ in the trenches last night.

Walnut come in second place, Whittier Christian came in third place and San Gabriel came in fourth place. All these schools won a CIF title. Something to think about.
