Regarding losing two divisions ….I agree with your sentiment , but CIF cares about having 14 Divisions for many reasons…./we won’t see any decrease in number of Divisions

This is a prime example of the injustice !
Great call ! Chino Hills beat Charter Oak , and beat freaking Etiwanda to get to .500 despite playing in stacked Baseline league ; yet they are denied playoff berth. If you ask CIF they would say there wasn’t room in their division. But they create the the divisions !!!!!!

who cares if we lose 2-divisions…
we probably lose 3 divisions… bc imo D1 should be 16 teams.. and ALL trinity teams NEED to be D1.

here is a thought… Make DIVISIONS based off leagues…. or
nobody cares much about League being against local talent anymore… HS has changed… you got all these SISSY kids posting selfies with “fam” “day1” blah blah… kids from other schools or better yet the school that just kicked your A55 … SMH… weak!… but if they were so much “day1” “fam” why are you not on the same team now… didnt realize YOUTH teamates were more imoportant than the ACTUAL teamates your playing with now in HS…. LAME.

Since CiF wants to control and dictate everything now… why not dictate who everyone plays in pre-season…. better yet why not release everyone schedule twice a year..

    1. based off pre season rankings
    2. based off results and distribute leagues
    3. playoffs

now you can see the real coaches over the “recruiters”
admins will have to work harder but better bc you got these admins who have mediocore programs and they are satisfied .. so keep everything on cruise control LIKE EL RANCHO… do Better

If you are relegated to D14 and a get a crummy playoff win this is not success . This is part of problem with new system , it allows rationalization and validation of bad football . This is part of what happened with Quinsey at Bassett last year ……he got two D14 playoffs after weak season in a bad league .Everyone said what a great job and he gets Whittier job , where apparently his efforts weren’t well received.
Spats team at Bassett was better even though they didn’t win playoff game ,

They are good by D8 standards , not by league standards or relative to last year . Teams that have competed for league titles are beat up and exhausted now . The reason I was disgusted when I saw they got bid , was that I thought they would do well.
Let me also point out that their inclusion in D8 made Rio Hondo the top seed in D9 rather than the 16 seed in D8; thus CIF may have created two CIF champs! I have all the respect in world for Rio and D9 is more than fair for them given size of student body ….::::I’m just pointing out the arbitrary randomness of CIF championships these days.
If they limit field to automatic qualifiers, they would lose at least two divisions ; that’s not happening . The ex post facto creation of Divisions is big problem in this mess ,

It used to be the semis and finals wee great matchups of truly deserving teams and produced great matchups, although early rounds were blowouts. This year semis have been blowouts with great matchups occurring in the first and second rounds ; whoever is left standing , fresh teams without intense league completion remain .
I don’t care for it , but it’s not going to change

C’mon now Charter Oak favored to win league. Bonita and Ayala good but not scary for CO. CO is in the league they should be in. If any school has a gripe about league is Bonita. Both Ayala and Bonita beat CO handily but you are right. CO is the one team jumping around competing with Brentwood, Barstow and Taquitz. Scary monsters.

Many 2-8 programs could’ve done the same thing, why does charter oak deserve it and not others? Be consistent CIF

    Simple answer to CiF problems

ONLY AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS can enter playoffs

    Easy!

IMO? So just let another team, not as good as CO, enter instead? Must fill brackets up/$$$$$$ ! I suggest his players love him, or respect him more for the great fun they are having. Also proving they are deserving success , even though not in league. I don’t know? How are the other teams in CO’s league doing

Coach Encinas great commentary , and some understanding that his club played in a much stronger league. I suggest to critical people that playing 14 games (4 playoff games) bests 10 games! And if El Monte can have chance ( and Spathias’s staff of many years) to maybe finally succeed little bit outside of league play so be it! Yes ! no doubt CIF Commission doing weird stuff, but 14 divisions allow teams that were not worthy decade ago now can play more football! I suggest most of us realize winning D14 is not super class ball, but I would accept a D14 championship. Negatives include having a good staff and losing to teams who would not be there if lesser divisions? Maybe? Satire like when great clubs lose early in playoffs to great programs, and very below average teams win CIF

This bozo really talking about what Big Lou “what have done.” Lou and Dom are great coaches. You are not. Get over it. Move on. Go cry somewhere else.

You don’t know Big Lou. It’s clear because you called him Farrar Sr. He would do anything for his players. To spend potentially 6 more weeks with his team he would fight for that opportunity any chance he could get. Everyone else is worried about the 2-8 record. All he cared about was his players. Dom has 4 CIF rings already. What Dom is doing is exactly what Big Lou did in his life. Never Quit, fight till the end.

To coach Novoa and all his staff and players thank you for an awsome season. With a very young team full of juniors and sophomores with a few seniors sprinkled in. In two years coach Novoa had made great progress. Now we have one more to go. BG you know

I think Farrar Sr. would have never begged for an entry with a 2-8 record. Most coaches have the class not to even consider it. Champion ship or no championship reputation, class and legacy matters. Many programs need to consider that in the way they go about their business.

I was at the LS vs Culver City game and it was very tight 21-17 LS at the Half. I’m very impressed how LS’s Coaches and Players made the adjustments with two scores and the D for holding down Culver City’s explosive offense. In the fourth CC had some big plays to cut into the lead, but LS always had an answer and control the tempo of the game.

    Good morning!
Just wanted to congratulate all of our area teams that have made it to this point.

Also wanted to acknowledge the progress that Bateman has made at Santa Fe in his first year and Novoa over at Bell Gardens in his second season. I’m confident that Mahlstede (RIP) and Newell are proud of what you’re doing at these schools.

Best wishes to all who are preparing for a game in the CIF Sectional Finals on Thanksgiving. (remind your players to go easy on the turkey)

The Warren Bears have won three playoff games, each by a single point. Either CIF made some excellent matchups here, or Pearson just likes to raise everyone’s blood pressure.
