High School Baseball Area Top 20

Bishop Amat moves into the top 20. It took some convincing because Amat hasn’t always been in our coverage area but 8-0 in the Del Rey league and 19-2 overall was too much to ignore. Glendora, Bonita and Monrovia all lost league games while Northview, South Hills and Arcadia remained perfect.

By Corey Kwok (El Monte) – Angel Acosta made it look effortless while throwing a no hitter for Gabrielino in a 7-1 win over El Monte. He went the distance and used 127 pitches to beat the host Lions in Mission Valley League play Friday afternoon.

East Boys, West Girls win in 110 All Star Games

By Tim Peterson (Whittier) Boys: East 103 West 92  Kevin Smith of Compton Centennial scored 24 points, most of which came as he was flying above the rim, to win MVP honors as the East beat the West 103-92 Friday night in the 110 All-Star game at Whittier College.

The East vs. West 110 High School Basketball All Star games will take place this Friday night April 23 at Whittier College. The Girls will tip off at 6:30 PM with the boys immediately following at 8:00.
