Kick it!

Bell Gardens will be starting a southpaw at quarterback but it won’t be Tristian Escobar. Instead the Lancers will go with former Charter Oak JV signal caller Charles Ontiveros

Whittier Christian offered me a ride up to Mammoth with them, but there was no mention of food…So…

I didn’t know New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was also Chief of Police, Police Commissioner, and Batman all rolled into one. Of course we already knew he was the Ralph Nader of junk food.

Sorry if this column ends abruptly, but I got to get it out fast…I don’t want to get sacked by Burbank’s Steven Kim.

Some, and even some on our own staff (Andy), asked me why I was at San Juan Hills/Viewpoint on Wednesday night.

Okay, I’ll tell you…Viewpoint is in the Alpha League and could finish third. This means the Patriots could be be playing a number one or two team out of the Rio Hondo, Valle Vista, Almont, or Mission Valley League. They looked like a school from one of those leagues…and wide receiver/safety Noah Doneen looks like a tough match up for any team in one of those leagues.

Did you know Nathan Cambridge left the Star News for the LA Times trifecta of the Burbank Leader/Glendale News Press/Pasadena Sun?

Give me fifty bucks a game and I’ll write in complete sentences.

That’s right Dodgers don’t make any effort at home against the Giants…Oh…On second thought I better not.

Note to El Monte OC Brian Tabatabai: When in doubt, go long.

Note to Arroyo OC Chris MacMillan: When in doubt, give it to Peter Aholoka.

A reference was made about Joey Harmon going down prior to Arcadia’s season opener  as being similar to Garrett Pendleton going down in August for Bonita in 2010.

While it’s true both schools had/have quality back-ups in place, Pendleton was lost only for a month. Harmon is gone until 2013.

For the record Brian Zavala is the new defensive coordinator at Montebello.

Final Note Bonita: Everyone should remember the job Greg Spathias did as the Bearcats triggerman the first month of the 2010 season.

Football’s early start is jacking up the “On This Date” portion of the column. So on this date in 2001 a football practice was held…

In light of the last two weeks, I must say it’s good to be alive.

Humboldt State, current home of former Muir standout Marcus Graves, has been picked to win the GNAC (Great Northwest Athletic Conference) in its coaches poll…APU has been picked by the coaches to finish fourth.

The Dude abides…
