(Sun Valley, CA) – Richard Broussard, who stepped down as the head coach at Burbank following the 2016 season has accepted the HC position at Village Christian.
The Crusaders discontinued the football program for 2017 but will re-establish it for next season with teams at the middle school, freshman and varsity levels.
Broussard, who spent this last season as an assistant coach at Pasadena City College, will not only be varsity head coach, but will also serve as Director of Football and as Assistant Athletic Director for Village Christian.
“I’m looking forward to getting to work and building something special,” Broussard said.
Theirs goes all the Burbank Kids.
@Ron Vrooman
Some might say Keppel, Marshall, Blair and Bassett are passed the state of repair and should just cancel football before they make the schedule. That is why some schools only play nine games because these schools will cancel the season after one or two games or cancel some games along the way. It all goes back to the leadership of each school. If you look at these schools the leadership is terrible. The administrators at these schools have no clue on how to run a school let along a sports program.
I love the coaching carousel also. It breathes new life into programs. Good or bad.
SGV….. LOL it’s not even Jan yet and you are incorrect.
@ Best Wishes: In my opinion, Alhambra is roughly halfway there, although we took a step backwards by falling a game short of the playoffs this year.
We’ve been on the low end of mediocrity for the last three seasons, and I’ll be the first to tell you that we aspire to greater things.
However, to say that we are still trying to build our program “from the ground up” is rather unfair.
You can accurately make that statement about football programs like those at Mark Keppel, Marshall, Blair, Gabrielino, and Bassett. We’re not that bad.
Zernikow taking over at Bonita. Jude Oliva going to Monrovia.
Best time of the year. Far better than the actual season. Watching all the coaching changes and hearing the ” spend more time with the family excuses.”
I wish coach much luck in building a program from the ground up. He faces a daunting task, similar to what the next Alhambra coach will have to grapple with.
