(La Puentes – Matt Villasenor has stepped down as an assistant coach at Bishop Amat he confirmed Monday.
Villasenor, who also was a big part of Bishop Amat’s recruitment process, indicated that his desire to be an offensive coordinator or a head coach if the opportunity arises as the reason for his resignation.
Villasenor was the co-head coach at Sierra Vista before joining Bishop Amat’s staff a year ago.
At South Matt V did not win or did he, at Wilson he did not win or did he, at Sierra Vista stained the program and did not win or did he, at Amat he did not win or did he, who is next I forecast and say he will not win!
Things that This clown never represented… Coaches that fake the funk are the issue.. guy is calling himself a coach for “status” not because he genuinely loves the craft of being a coach. Some guys need to just hang it up and move on… Hags should have never hired this coach just using the Amat name to his resume as a selling point.. I can’t stand watching “coaches” sit around and do nothing during practice but pregame and during the game try to be the most involved and pump themselves up like they can coach when the kid is just a stud. The kids going to Cal Poly & Campbell may be on a full ride, but it’s highly doubtful. FCS schools only get up to a maximum of 63 scholarships (if the school can afford that many and they all cannot) to fill there 100+ man rosters. 99% of those kids are on partial athletic scholarships and use academics and other financial aid to pay the way.
Those kids are hell of good football players and have earned whatever comes their way, but let’s not spin it into a glamour shot for the coach who “got them the ride” b/c the work was done by the kids, both in and out of the classroom

There’s no college or college coach that cares which stupid HS coach is hyping a player, they ONLY care about his good the kid is snd his grades. They don’t care at all what a HS coach say. Don’t let these clowns fool you parents, no HS coach gets any kid a scholarship!!! The kid has to earn it!!! That being said, they’re terrible coaches who keep kid from earning scholarships. But that’s a whole different topic…..

The Afalava was on his way out due to no recruiting at amat prior to Matt getting there
When is the last time amat had a kid playing in an all American game? Because the Afalava kid is playing in the Polynesian all American game in Hawaii on the 20th.
Amat has been one of the top football programs in Southern California before Matt V and will continue to be far after Matt V

BUT those same kids need more credit, AMAT or MattV didnt help them. They could attend BASSET HIGH and still end up going to Cal Pol or other “d1” schools.
all this hype, you need to sign kids to FULL RIDES – not partials or schools that these kids can get into with simplly having good grades and financial aide or loans.
if he is so GOOD, how do you not have that WR AND RB going to a school on FULL RIDE, cmon … and these freshman with Louisville offers better wake up soon.

We don’t need a coach that gets kids from all over at La Serna.
If you don’t know don’t speak up. He’s had kids at Oklahoma, Tennessee Tech, Missouri State, APU, La Verne, Whittier and others. As for Booth he got out Covid year and grades didn’t get him out but had a few offers but now at Utah Sate. And those two you spoke on are in the NFL. Ciniceros and Villasenor as HCs shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence.
I want to see him become the HC at a high school but not recruit one kid and only build from what he’s got on campus. Let’s see how many games he can win and how many scholarships he can get kids. That’ll make me a believer.

Those who really know this guy, know that he isn’t coaching material. He’s not articulate, professional, or mature enough for the position. After SV, Fred called many schools in the SGV to try to find this dude a job. He makes false promises to kids and is a fraud. Someone should look into his background. It goes way beyond SV and Bishop. There’s a pattern of behavior here that people should really acknowledge.
Sierra Vista had to forfeit 5 games under Him for playing illigal players, check with CIF. Im not going to go into the effects of such thing on students and parents, not to mention the history of the all ready chattered sports program. Thats emberrassing for the school and the community, I wonder what happend at Amat, because they didnt win anything there either. Thats a real turn around! More like he will srew your program up! Those kids would have gotten those scholarships regardless at Amat.. no offense to those kids but having a “Louisville offer” and signing to Cal Poly is a hoax… majority of the kids he “works” for either already have top College offers and he rides the coat tail and pumps his chest all over twitter like he did something reminds me of a Mel Kiper Jr…
It was after his second year at Sierra Vista the kids got signed and from what the current coach has done in his career he’ll get kids out of there too.
I’d love to see this guy at Monrovia! love him or hate him! He can coach and turn programs around or make them better. As a Monrovia Alum I can speak for the real fans that we loved Williams. If up to me he’d still be the coach! But it’s not! With that said. Since he resigned and is moving on. I’d love to see a guy Like Matt Finish what Chris started and take us to the next level. He has potential and the know how to take a regular team into the next level. Just my opinion. I do not speak for all Monrovia Alum or fans. I just want the best for my old neighborhood. MTown

A go fund me account has been created to erect a triple life-size bronze statue of Villasenor, to be erected at the front of Amat’s campus. This will be just a small token of appreciation for what this outstanding individual has done for Lancer Nation.
