(Baldwin Park) – Baldwin Park named former Pasadena offensive coordinator Robert Maxie as its new head football coach the school confirmed Monday.
Maxie, who has been instrumental in leading Pasadena to the Pacific League title the last two years, takes over for Ibis Aguilar who stepped down after the season.
The Braves had a good year as they won the Mt. Baldy League title, went 10-3 overall and advanced to the Semi-Finals of the CIF Division 10 playoffs before falling to Muir 28-7.
This is Maxie’s first stint as head coach.

Maxie couldn’t score points against equal level or slightly better teams. The big numbers came against the dogs in league. Look it up! He better bring the DC from Pasadena, he’s the real coach that won games for Dena when Maxie’s offense went cold. However, in 2023 hyping yourself on Twitter gets you employment. People like these clowns because they fall for the marketing that Matt V and Maxie produce. Newspapers like them because they can write on the controversies they produce and get more clicks on their write-ups. Kids like them because of the promises they make and the connections/networking they offer.
It’s pretty simple – just sell yourself out and promote yourself (and occasionally your players/program) and you’ll be a sensation.
What is the love affair with this guy or Matt v? Have you guys ever seen their product on the field? When Maxie was at Arcadia he had transfers from everywhere but ran into trouble vs the pacific, and at cathedral he couldn’t coach with the upper echelon coaches, goes to Dena, has a slogan about colors, league sucks, and runs away with the league because of recruits. All downhill from here
@tim what are the odds Matt v joins the staff as oc? It’s documented that Matt got fired from Sierra vista but given maxie got hired don’t that social media is an issue now

A good example a coach building a program is Encinas at SG. It took six seasons of patience, but it was worth the wait.

You might not even get riches. Look at Rosemead . They hired off of the braggadocio Sierra Vista tree and instantaneously became Division 14 team and non-contender in soft MVL.

From riches to ruins, that is how any program touched by the likes of Maxie, Matt V ends up. Programs need to hire coaches who are going to build and develop, it may not give the instantaneous results but your program will thrive on integrity and character and be far stronger in the long run.
