(Long Beach)- Ganesha wrapped up a perfect 18-0 season with a 7-0 victory over Fillmore Friday at Blair Field in Long Beach to win the CIF Division 7 Baseball championship.
Gabe Smith hit a three-run triple in the fourth inning to increase the lead to 5-0 and the Giants coasted from there. They used three pitchers to hold Fillmore to just two hits. Ganesha finished out the season by shutting out its last four opponents.
It was Ganesha’s first ever baseball title.
The irony is that the AD was against this for such a long time, but I guess everyone has a price. Sad day for home grown kids.
Ganesha high school and its kids are great. Ganesha baseball adults have perverted what it means to be a high school baseball team. Give adults a chance they will ruin a perfectly fine school board and a perfectly fine baseball program. They will make winning look like losing. I feel bad for the kids that lived close to Ganesha that had their baseball, softball season ruined by being cut or never seeing the field. I’am sure more adults in different areas are going to ruin their local high school programs the same way next year.
