The basketball playoff pairings were announced Sunday and again some of the brackets left you scratching your head. Baldwin Park is traveling to Beaumont. I hope that gas bill fits into the school budget.

Primitivo Perfecto! Knights Run the Table

(El Monte) – Primitivo Gomez scored 25 points including 14 in the first quarter to spark Arroyo to a 47-33 win over Mt. View Friday night on the Vikings home floor. With the win the Knights ran the Mission Valley League table with a perfect 10-0 record.

Knights Knocked Down and Out by Beverly Hills

(El Monte) – Arroyo fell down by eight in the first quarter and never bounced back in a 61-38 loss to Beverly Hills in the first round of the CIF Division 3AAA playoffs Wednesday night at Vern Nelson Fieldhouse.

Gabrielino Works OT for MVL Title

By Corey Kwok (San Gabriel) – Tyler Shimamoto hit the game tying shot at the regulation buzzer and Gabrielino went on to beat Arroyo 59-58 in overtime Friday night to win the Mission Valley League title.

Lions Surprise Arroyo

(El Monte) – Memo Silva scored 12 points and Jorge Caldera added 10 to lead El Monte to a stunning 34-30 win over Arroyo Friday night at Vern Nelson Fieldhouse.

Knights Still Perfect in League

(Rosemead) – Arroyo used a 14-0 run to open the third quarter and went on to rout Rosemead 48-29 Wednesday night in Mission Valley League action.

South Hills Too Much for Arroyo

(El Monte) – South Hills held Arroyo to just four points in the first quarter and led the rest of the way in a 55-44 win over the Knights Friday night at Vern Nelson Fieldhouse.
