By Tim Peterson (El Monte) – Arroyo went on a 15-4 run to open the third quarter and went on to beat South El Monte 62-44 Wednesday night at Vern Nelson Fieldhouse.

Rosemead Rallies Past Arroyo

By Tim Peterson (El Monte) – Rosemead went on a 10-0 run late in the third quarter and into the fourth and went on to beat Arroyo 48-43 Friday night at Vern Nelson Fieldhouse.

It’s a year round celebration for Monrovia. First there was the third consecutive Mid-Valley Divison title. Then it was on to the State tournament. Now the Wildcats have had five players receive scholarships to play college football.

The basketball playoff pairings were announced Sunday and again some of the brackets left you scratching your head. Baldwin Park is traveling to Beaumont. I hope that gas bill fits into the school budget.

Primitivo Perfecto! Knights Run the Table

(El Monte) – Primitivo Gomez scored 25 points including 14 in the first quarter to spark Arroyo to a 47-33 win over Mt. View Friday night on the Vikings home floor. With the win the Knights ran the Mission Valley League table with a perfect 10-0 record.

I found myself rooting for the Boston Celtics Sunday. It felt kind of strange but I believe I’ve hit LeBron overload. He got his championship last year and now everybody proclaims him to be the best basketball player on the planet…ever.
