Good Evening!

I’ve never been on a sleigh ride…and I have never, NEVER, said to someone; “Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap, let’s go…”

Just a little too delightful for me..

You have to credit the Officials in their contest with UConn today, they really gave their best effort to pick up the win.

This just in; Matt Koffler is being rumored to leave Rosemead to replace Charlie Weiss at Notre Dame…

Charter Oak going to Westco next week will be some kind of war…Expect proposed national healthcare (theft) costs to go through the roof during this game…I have a feeling its going to be Rollerball physical.

I don’t think the Clippers are going to be as bad as everyone thinks…I’m not saying they’ll make the playoffs…but they’re not bad…

Note to La Canada: After all the drama, after all the moments, you disappoint me with your 45-0 loss to Valley Christian. As my good friend Ricky Ricardo would say; “Wha happen?”

Often I use the adage ‘you could fry an egg on the top of Jim Singiser’s head’ when things aren’t right with Arroyo. According to Duane “Bad News” Barker you could have grilled a t-bone on the dome of His Arroyo Baldness after the Knights blew a three touchdown lead and fell to Whittier Christian.

On this date in 2003 San Gabriel went to B.L. Bergstrom as the third place team out of the Almont and upset Arroyo 44-10. The victory was the first step in the Matadors run to the CIF finals…That run was keyed by Frankie Bernard, Kevin Harris, Andy Soto, Juan Magallon, and Joseph Park to name a few.

Chris Solomon was awesome last night for West Covina…Jesse Ili looked great as well…but seeing the WC for the first time this season I was impressed with Ricky Johnson…

When we saw Johnson play as a sophomore we got elbowed in the side by folks saying he wasn’t physical enough… Then after carrying the Bulldogs to the semifinals last year…we had folks telling us he’s not complete… Then after I saw him score two touchdowns last night I was thrilled for the first time in three years no one had anything to say…This kid has worked hard and shut up his critics…Good for him…

“Ricky just wants to keep playing football,” said WC HC Mike Maggiore. “He’s been great and is doing whatever it takes for this team.”

Question: Do people in San Dimas worry when the Saints fail to score 50-points or more in a game?

Congrats to Baldwin Park and James Heggins for getting the school’s first playoff win this decade… And huge congrats to the Burbank Bulldogs…The Pacific champions have advanced to the second round for the second consecutive year…Every time you count B-Bank out…Ulises Ochoa keeps dragging them back in again…

I really liked the way USC looked today…

Is it still possible for teams to overlook Cal and Terris Jones…TJ has performed Desmond-like this season…

Thanks for the Memories: These players closed out their prep careers last night; Isaac Valdez (San Gabriel), Chris Rodriguez (Arroyo), Rocky Moore (La Canada), Luis Diaz (Rosemead), Darrian Cazarin (Alhambra), and Jarron Williams (Muir).

Speaking of Muir… All love and props to a team given up for dead a few weeks ago…and then took number one ranked Charter Oak to the brink before falling 20-19…

Credit Where Credit is Due Dept.: My favorite sports are football, basketball, baseball, and bashing Andy Villathedevil… However, I do have to give the Evil One credit… He felt Muir had a shot at CO… We both did, and we both came to that conclusion separately… So as the reports rolled in from Mid Valley Cub Saile Ramirez we were elated with the performance of Ken Howard’s Mustangs…

Of course, to keep it real, Villathedevil did say West Covina wasn’t physical enough and took the Matadors against the WC…

I was all set to go see Maranatha tonight…the schedule said Saturday…the game was played Friday… Can the schedule makers, posters, and websites correct things like this…and regain my respect? Thank you.

We really were told Michael Ball wasn’t going to play last night by Rowland HC Craig Snyder…but after last minute doctor/health information entered the equation the junior quarterback ran onto the field with his team.

Note to Coaches: Of course we always want a quote…but we are not quote driven…and we do not feel we are entitled, nor you required, to speak to us after a game…We’ll take it if we can get it…but far too often the focus of the game story becomes a shift to the quote story… Mid Valley writers first responsibility when covering a game is to get the game story as right as possible… and if it can be accented or flavored with a quote…all the better…

Hello Palmdale…

In the only previous meeting between Monrovia and Paraclete (2nd rd. 2007) the Spirits won 23-20.

For what its worth, San Marino has played 539 varsity football games since fielding its first squad (CIF champions, 13-0) in 1955…but not one of those games, which includes contests against Jackson Academy (Miss.), Pomona Catholic, Brawley, Loara, and El Centro, has been against next Friday’s CIF opponent Azusa.

How’s that for research?

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I refuse to believe this is the end for Gil Ruedaflores…

Stay thirsty my friends…
