Love stories like this…Back in the day we used to cover Little League and one of the seven leagues that we covered was South El Monte National that played at New Temple Park. Manny Acosta played shortstop and pitched for the SEM National Pirates and had the word “potential” written all over him.

(El Monte) – Monrovia beat Buena Park 27-15 in the Final to win the SGV Shootout Saturday at Arroyo High School. Asaph Zamora fired four touchdown passes in the championship game. Four Fling it at Arroyo
(El Monte) – Arroyo geared up for its biggest event of the summer – Saturday’s SGV Shootout- by hosting a four-way throw Thursday. Arcadia, Bassett and Schurr joined the Knights to toss it around.

The vibe I’m getting about the Carmelo Anthony to Lakers deal is not good. I’m hearing that he doesn’t play defense, shoots too much and isn’t the ideal teammate. That’s probably all true, but I say bring him on.
