So the Rosemead head coaching vacancy has been filled. Or has it?
I heard it was…was even given a name. But then was told it wasn’t and nothing was confirmed. The latest is that the new coach will be announced next week. Ok, we’re all on the edge of our seats. Wait a minute, isn’t this the same thing that we’ve been hearing out of Los Altos?
With Marc Paramo stepping down there are now three former head football coaches on campus- Paramo, Matt Koffler and Larry Hatley. Interesting. Before you start to wonder Hatley reportedly was offered the job but turned it down. As for Koffler? He’s still waiting for the USC job to open up again.

One coaching job that has been filled and confirmed is the assistant head coach/DC position at Mt. View. Jacob Ochoa, former Alhambra DC and an assistant at Monrovia last year has accepted that job with the Vikings and is looking forward to getting started.
“It’s official. Time to get to work,” Ochoa posted on Facebook with a Viking helmet prominently displayed.

Contrary to popular belief South El Monte running back Sal Tovar was present at the Eagles four-way throw last week at Arroyo. I saw him with my own eyes. No he wasn’t playing, he’s been involved in other sports, but he was there. The important thing is that he hasn’t transferred to Cathedral. Eagles HC Frank Gallardo likes what he has coming back but is a little concerned about his offensive line. “We lost a lot of guys up front,” he said.

Didn’t expect to see that much noise about Bell Gardens on the boards. The Lancers struggled mightily last season finishing 2-8 overall. But that wasn’t a surprise to head coach Margarito Beltran. He knew what he was getting into when he took the job and he knew it was gong to be a three to four year project.
“We had a ton of sophomores last year, but I expect us to be much better this season,” Beltran said. He paused and then said “But next year, in 2018 we’re going to be good…very good.”

The “Red Devils Shootout” at Pomona High School Saturday June 3 is almost set. Most of the teams have confirmed but they are just waiting to iron out a few final details. Teams and schedules will be posted as soon as its official.

One head coaching vacancy that has flown under the radar is Diamond Bar where Marcus Hughes stepped down after a three-year run. The Brahmas went 11-19 under Hughes and they haven’t made the playoffs since 2013 which was Ryan Maine’s final year. That year Diamond Bar blew out Downey in the first round of the Southeast Playoffs before falling to La Serna in the second round. The Brahmas finished 7-5 overall.
Would Maine consider coming back? “Haha! There are plenty of candidates better than me out there. I hope they get a good one,” he said.
Who are the candidates? They were still conducting interviews as of the first week of April. It’s still to be determined. This is a recording.

Former Arcadia/Buena Park assistant Eric Elias is officially a free agent after confirming last week that he has left the Coyotes staff. His status? Still to be determined. Jude Oliva is still at Buena Park for now but with a new head coach in place he could be on the move as well. His name has been mentioned everywhere from El Monte to San Gabriel to Rosemead but he hasn’t budged. Like everything else in coaching circles these days…stay tuned.

Don’t expect to see Temple City on the passing circuit anytime soon. The Rams will pound the ball and then pound it some more. “If we were going to throw the ball 35 times a game then yeah we’d go to passing leagues, but we don’t,” said first year head coach Riley Saxon. TC opens spring practice this week.

So it looks like Aaron Hernandez is out for the year.
That’s my principle.

I didn’t know Zernikow left Oregon.
There is no way on Gods green earth that Coach Z would ever go to San Gabriel. Case closed.
Coach Z is not gonna drive all the way to San Gabriel to coach. He is a administrator in Glendora and has it good right now.
He runs a double wing offense…. we saw how San Gabriel does with wing offenses…. y’all need a spread coach…
If Zernikow does take the San Gabriel job it would be a home run hire
Zernikow may be coming to SG.
Rosemead really needs to get a coach by this week. I feel that Jude fits just right being that he would bring some kind of excitement back to the program.
@Tin you have never commented on this blogs on any subject and the only thing you do comment on this at Rosemead , MMM???????
If you are an insider, then you are not loyal and you were told to hush,,,” hey hey hey I have news before anyone” you sound like a b.
making comments, speculating, and criticizing is what happens here in the MVS blog but you are too eager to tell . Too Funny
I like the sound of Elias & Oliva to SG. Pull the trigger admin.
@anon I only post facts, not gossip. That is why so rare.
Hey Tin this dedication and continuing commenting on only one subject , Castaneda to Rosemead, OK , OK ,
Who from Rosemead are you? The OC before Castaneda?
comment on on other stuff you sound like the girl that gossips and only gossips.
Why would any EM kids stay? If you have talent you should be at Arroyo or SEM. First rule of being a principal is to win your first football game. It’s what is taught in every admin program. Looks like a the admin at EM skipped that course. Then again you have an AD who is a no show at most Varsity games, including CIF.
Arroyo can steel players and contact them illegally and they are not going to do anything about it because the baldness himself is part of the CIF board? or what I hear is he has pull ?
Josh Knight will accept the Rosemead job and back out on the day he gets approved
All in hopes that Arroyo can take whatever talent is currently at Rosemead. FYI arroyo is still pursuing two EM kids SMH!
Elias and Oliva anywhere would instantly make the program a factor in any league! Maybe not CIf champs quick but in time they would contend
Rumor has it Josh Knight interviewed at rosemead
Jude would leave because he has no connection to the new coach at bp
Jude is still at BP. Why would he leave ?
Spathias to LA done deal its official.
That throw away line at the end of your column is not funny or needed.
Eric Elias to San Gabriel with Jude as oc
@TP, Tacos Bufadora on you if i am right about Castaneda?
Hector Spathias to Los Altos and the Los Altos staff to Dbar.
Take that to the bank!!
