We took a trip out to Baldwin Park to check out the Braves on Saturday. Big numbers, big boys and some big playmakers. HC Daniel Al-gattas talked about everything from the West Coast offense that he’s going to run (New Orleans Saints’ version) to his days at Mt. SAC and UCLA to the excitement surrounding the BP football program.

  It’s tough being a sports fan in Southern California these days. The Lakers and the Clippers finished off disappointing seasons by being bounced in the first round. Both Mike D’Antoni and Vinny Del Negro are in danger of losing their jobs.

I know what they’re saying. He doesn’t have the arm strength. He isn’t mobile enough. He didn’t lead the Trojans to enough victories. But I still maintain they missed it with Matt Barkley.

The basketball playoff pairings were announced Sunday and again some of the brackets left you scratching your head. Baldwin Park is traveling to Beaumont. I hope that gas bill fits into the school budget.

The San Gabriel coaching situation has been settled. It went to a name that a lot of people aren’t familiar with. J.D. Thompson, whose roots aren’t embedded in the San Gabriel Valley, has taken the job as head coach.

Have you moved off the couch for the last week and a half? If you’re a football fan, and aren’t we all? it’s been heaven with a bowl game nearly every night followed by the start of the NFL playoffs this past weekend.
