Arroyo-Rosemead…in May

Arroyo and Rosemead renewed old acquaintances Saturday at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium. The Panthers and the Knights have been butting heads for decades in what is the best rivalry in the Mission Valley League but this wasn’t quite as intense as a Friday night clash in October.

West Covina Wins Shootout

(El Monte) – West Covina beat Northview 30-18 to win the SGV Shootout at Arroyo Saturday. The Bulldogs, not traditionally a passing team, knocked off Monrovia in the semi finals before dispatching of Northview. Monrovia beat Whittier Christian in the consolation game.

Four Throw at South Pas

(South Pasadena)— Muir, Alhambra, Rosemead and South Pasadena connected on Wednesday afternoon. It was casual, a little leg stretching, some defense, some passing and catching. A nice return for the Moors, evaluations for the Tigers, thoughts from Muir, and quarterback considerations by the Panthers. All should make for an interesting summer.

Throwing at Arroyo in April

(El Monte) – Alhambra, Bell Gardens and Rosemead joined Arroyo Saturday morning to throw the ball around. It’s only April but all four teams already know they have things to work out before September.

Bold Call: Rosemead Beats Arroyo Friday Night

I’ve been saying it for a week now; Arroyo is cruisin’ for a bruisin’

Panthers Flagged for a Loss

(Rosemead) – Rosemead was unable to overcome a barrage of penalties, a 90 yard kick off return, four turnovers, and two missed extra points in a 20-19 loss to Rowland Thursday night on its home field.

Oilers Shut Down Rosemead

(Montebello) – Matt Saenz completed 10 of 14 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead Montebello to a 20-9 in over Rosemead Friday night. Montebello improved to 2-0 with the victory while the Panthers opened the season with a defeat.

The Peterson Principle 8/15/11

The opening kick off for high school football is still a couple of weeks away. All the passing circuits are completed and fall camp is underway. Most teams will be throwing on the helmet and pads soon as they begin the stretch run to zero week.
